Geosynthetic Applications for Construction Expediency

The use of geogrids and other geosynthetic products and systems is often based on improving performance, reducing material and labor cost, or both. But there are many times in construction when the most important consideration is speed, for example: • Schedules delayed by weather (or other factors like a pandemic) • Soil conditions requiring pre-consolidation to manage settlement • Material and equipment delivery sequence • Difficult site access or tight boundaries • Early completion bonuses

This session discusses some key ideas related to construction expediency, followed by examples of geosynthetic applications which were implemented for the purpose of reducing construction time.
