Temporary Retaining Wall System

  • Economical solution based on inexpensive wire-forms that don't require expensive equipment or labor
  • Simplify planning and allow for quicker construction for bridge improvement, road widening, surcharge load cell, phased or staged projects and more
  • Walls can be left in place or removed as needed
Overview

Tensar provides a proven technology that allows you to build temporary retaining walls without the challenges and expense of traditional and steel-based techniques. The Tensar temporary retaining wall system uses an inexpensive wire-form facing system along with uniaxial (UX) geogrids to reinforce the fill. As a result, Tensar temporary walls can simplify planning and allow for quicker construction such as bridge improvement, road widening, surcharge load cell, phased or staged projects, and more. Once construction is complete, our temporary earth/soil retention wall systems can be removed or stay in place.

System Components

Tensar temporary retaining wall systems are comprised of:

  • Tensar UX geogrid
  • Tensar BX geogrid
  • Black steel welded wire-form facing units
  • Support strut
  • Geotextile
  • Engineering and site assistance

Simplified Installation Keeps Costs Down

Tensar temporary construction walls are quick and easy to install, requiring no skilled labor or heavy lifting or pile-driving equipment that is expensive to use. Likewise, they're easy to remove or can be left in place and buried in phased construction. Since the system can be backfilled with general embankment fills or on-site soils, both fill material and disposal costs can be reduced as well.

The Backbone of the Temporary Wall System: Tensar UX Geogrid

Tensar UX geogrids are manufactured from select grades of HDPE resins that are highly oriented and resist deformation when subjected to high tensile loads for long periods of time. These geogrids carry large tensile loads applied in one direction. Their open aperture structure interlocks with natural fill materials, making them ideal for mechanically stabilized earth (MSE) applications.
