Cadenassso Drive Reconstruction
May 2024
Re-design using InterAx geogrid allows City to reduce project budget.
- Contractor: Mountain Cascade, Inc.
The City of Fairfield planned to reconstruct a key arterial street, Cadenasso Drive. However, all contractor bids exceeded the project budget forcing the City to consider a redesign.
Tensar approached the City to provide solutions to reduce project costs.Tensar engineers provided design options that added InterAx geogrid that reduced the aggregate base thickness by 50% (from 2.13 ft to 1.08 ft). This provided significant reductions in import aggregate and over-ex/ haul off costs while reducing construction days. When the City re-advertised the project with the new InterAx pavement design, all bids came in under budget allowing the project to move forward.
