After cutting grade to begin construction of the pavement sections,Teichert received updated R-value subgrade conditions from Mid Pacific Engineering that would require a thicker aggregate base course section or thicker asphalt lift to meet the pavement design requirements.

Local Tensar representatives worked with the developer and engineer to provide a solution that would meet the required design traffic indices while keeping the project on schedule and budget in the most cost-effective manner. By incorporating HX 5.5 geogrid on the subgrade with the planned section thicknesses, the engineer was able to increase the design subgrade R-value, maintain pavement section thicknesses and increase the traffic index.
